Organizer

Organizer of the Klimacamp2010 is BUNDjugend NRW (Young Friends of the Earth Nordrhein-Westfalen), an independant organization within the “Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland Landesverband Nordrhein-Westfalen e.V.”
In this organization young people commit to a consistent protection of nature and environment. The idea to chose the open cast coal mine Garzweiler as a place for the Klimacamp carries on the spirit of the resistence camp that Friends of the Earth organized in January 2008 to protest against displacement and destruction. The intention of Klimacamp 2010 is to create an opportunity for information and participation, and to open up a space to live alternatives.

Promoter

The ministry for generations, family, women and integration of the German state North-Rhein-Westfalia (Ministerium für Generationen, Familie, Frauen und Integration des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen (MGFFI)) wants to ensure, strenghten and develop the social participation of young people. It also wants to keep the young people engaged in society, politics and their own concerns.

The ministry supports projects, that inspires young people to participate in shaping politics, in order to strengthen democracy. Klimacamp 2010 fits in with these aims and so we got a sponsorship grant after we handed in as an accepted youth association in line with a “Youth Covenant” of the MGFFI.

The grant for the project ensures the organization of the camp, which would not be possible if we depended only on our own.
